The Science
Red Light Therapy has been used in the United States for over 40 years, but only recently has the technology advanced to provide for
fat reduction as well as
tightening and rejuvenating the skin.
Dr. Rodrigo Neira, M.D. and Clara Ortiz-Neira, M.D. were two pioneers in this field, who, in 2001 demonstrated that an 8mW 635nm laser that was held 6 to 8 inches from the skin could emulsify deep fat (6cm) and break up the appearance of scar tissue.
Red light therapy is backed up by hard science and years of clinical research and has even been used in hospital burn units, as part of"smart" liposuction, and in
non-narcotic pain relief all over the world.
Research at Mayo Clinic, NASA and other leading research organizations; have proven
red light therapy to be both
safe and effective. These technologies are all based on modulating a specific type of red light. The
modulated red light tricks the mitochondria in the fat cell into stimulating release of
the fatty acids and triglycerides from the cell. The liberated fat cell contents are then
drained by the lymphatic system and
processed by the liver as part of the body's normal course of detoxification. The pore in the fat cell will close in about
48-72 hours and the liberated contents will be
expelled in the patient's stool over the next few days.
It is important to remember that this dose of red light does not generate heat as part of its action mechanism, so you

Q: How long are the treatments? How often can treatments be given?
A: Treatments are 20 minutes and can be given 2-3 times per week.
Q: How does Fine-Light work?
A: Red LED light is a powerful stimulant to the skin and is an effective way to energize the cells of the skin, promoting the production of collagen and elastin. Lack of collagen and elastin in the skin's cells can result in fine lines and wrinkles. LED Light Therapy has a direct effect on the regeneration of the skin, penetrating the top layers of the skin, energizing the skin, producing collagen and elastin, which helps to plump the skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Q: Why can't you get the same effect from sunlight?
A: Sunlight also contains harmful Ultra Violet (UV) rays which damage the skin. Fine-Light bathes the skin in a pure light source that generates much needed protein and, in turn, allows the cells of the skin to regenerate, plumping the skin and increasing levels of elasticity.
Q: Are the treatments painful? Are there any side effects?
A: Using the Fine-Light skin rejuvenation system is safe and completely non-invasive. It has been used for years in numerous medical procedures, spas, the offices of aestheticians and dermatologists around the world. It is recommended that the user wears the tinted safety glasses (similar to ones used at a tanning salon). It is also advised the user rests during the treatment.
Q: How long will it take before I see results?
A: The visible results will depend upon each individual and may be affected by: age of the user, skin condition, diet, smoking and drinking habits. The average time in which a user of Fine-Light will see tangible results is 4 to 6 weeks. For others it may be longer, but in many cases individuals will see results immediately.
Q: Is Acu-Clear or Fine-Light covered by insurance?

Can I wear make-up during treatments?
A: No. The face is required to be cleansed prior to treatments.
